Based in Milan, Lombardy, AC Milan is a professional football team in Italy. The team was established in 1899 and plays in the highest division of Italian football, Serie A. Prior to relocating to its present stadium, the San Siro, in 1926, Milan played its home games at various locations throughout the city. With a total capacity of 75,817, the stadium—built by Piero Pirelli, Milan’s second chairman—is the biggest in Italian football and has been shared with Inter Milan since 1947. The team and Inter have a long-standing rivalry; they compete in one of football’s most watched derbies, the Derby della Madonnina.
